Reefscape Australia Aquariums was first approached in December 2113 by leading Singapore based architect Surbana International, to assist with the internal architectural layout of an aquarium building shell design, his team were proposing for the redevelopment of the Yangon Aquarium in Myanmar.
Surbana’s exciting building complex, comprised of 2 buildings, 1 destined to house the aquarium and 2nd to accommodate food & beverage plus retail focussed business.
Reefscpe provided cocepts and speicalist data to Surbana to refine the aquarium building concept and business model. The adopted changes suggested by Reefscape, were warmly received by both the Architect and the Client team. Reefscape’s presentation, notably receiving a standing ovation.
Reefscape was subsequently invited to provide a design proposition for specialist aquarium areas of the building's interior, its exhibits and its visitors experience.
Reefscape having previously carried out a viability study of the project site, proceeded to invite friend, (Senior Consulting Designer) Mike Murphy of M.J.Murphy Ltd, onto the team to assist with the preliminary design process.
2 aquarium design concepts were produced. Both concepts were warmly received by the client team, the second immediately adopted with minimal changes.
